ICS World Qualifier Chili Cook-Off
June 14-15
The 2025 Big Bear Chili Cook-Off is set for July 14th and 15th at the Old Miner’s event area. The competition on July 14th is officially recognized by the International Chili Society (ICS), which means winners can earn points toward national rankings. There will be contests for both red and green chili, plus salsa entries. Visitors can enjoy live music, local vendors, and fun activities for kids. Special contests like Shoot n’ Holler, Miss Chili Pepper, and Mr. Hot Stuff will also be held. Entry is free, and chili tasting kits are available for just $5.
Summit Bike Park
All Month
Summit Bike Park is open for the summer season and it’s the perfect place to get your adrenaline pumping in Big Bear! Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced rider, there are trails for every skill level, from scenic rides to thrilling downhill runs. With lift access, you can spend more time riding and less time climbing. It’s one of the top outdoor adventures to try in Big Bear in July!
Big Bear Farmers Market
Every Tuesday 8:30 AM – 1 PM (April through September)
Come out to Big Bear’s Farmers Market at the Convention Center to support your local growers and pick up local fruit and vegetables. Hand-made craft vendors, as well as local food, are also available!
HIGH ALTITUDE TRAINING
Big Bear sits at just under 7,000 feet elevation and is the perfect destination for high altitude training. Everyone from runners, boxers, cyclists, and swimmers head to Big Bear for training at high altitudes.

Summer Fishing
Spending your days on the lake is the best thing to do in Big Bear during the summer months. One of the best places to catch fish on the Lake is from the beach shoreline on the north side of the lake near the dam.
Helicopter Tours
Head to the Big Bear Airport and lift off over the mountains on a scenic helicopter tour. The helicopter has a capacity for you, 2 friends, and of course the pilot.
I have done the tour before and can say it is amazing. You get to see views of Big Bear that you didn’t know even exist. The tour brings you over alpine lakes, waterfalls, and dives down into scenic valleys.
