Take a swim at Three Sisters Waterfalls!

In August, the Three Sisters Falls trail in Cleveland National Forest is a challenging but rewarding adventure. This roughly 4-mile round-trip hike features a dramatic 1,000-foot descent into a canyon with three cascading waterfalls.

⚠️ Important Safety Tips:

The summer heat can be extreme—temperatures in the canyon frequently soar above 100°F. Bring at least 2 liters of water per person, wear sun protection, and start early in the morning.

Trail conditions include steep, rocky slopes and recent improvements, but some uphill stretches remain very steep and narrow—trekking poles and good hiking shoes are strongly recommended.

Plan on 2.5–4 hours to complete the hike, plus extra time for breaks and enjoying the water pools—if there’s any water flow left later in August.

The trailhead is accessed via Boulder Creek Road, which transitions from paved to dirt—most vehicles can make it, but drive carefully.

Go Rock Climbing in San Diego

The rock climbing and bouldering scene in San Diego is very big. You have a wide variety of places to climb including outdoor gorges, boulder fields, and indoor gyms. Be sure to bring your shoes and chalk bag on your next visit to San Diego!

Eat at “Chick N Hawk”

If you’re searching for “Chick N Hawk” in San Diego in August 2025, it’s likely a casual or playful way of referring to local birds of prey, particularly the Cooper’s Hawk, which is commonly seen around the San Diego area all year long. According to the San Diego Bird Alliance, Cooper’s Hawks can be found even in urban areas, especially during the summer months when bird activity is high.

Another frequent sight in the region is the Red-tailed Hawk, one of the most widespread hawks in North America, as noted by the San Diego Zoo. While “Chick N Hawk” isn’t an official bird name or business, it may be a fun nickname used by locals or birdwatchers to describe these impressive raptors seen soaring above San Diego’s parks, canyons, and coastlines.
