Guisados
At the top of our list is Guisados. With locations in Los Angeles and Hermosa Beach, this taco joint is one for the books. Guisados is a great place to bring friends and order shareables for the table. They make their tortillas in-house, and do some of the best barbacoa around. One of the things we like the most about Guisados is that you can order a taco sampler platter and try all the different flavors. This is great for a first-time visitor so you can figure out what to order next time. With reasonable prices and fresh, authentic fare, we recommend hitting up Guisados. What’s even better is that it’s right down the road from our ITH Surf Hostel!
Java Man Coffee House
Before getting your day started, head over to Java Man Coffee House. This quaint coffee shop is a gem of Hermosa Beach and is a local favorite. You’ll find that the coffee is well-priced, plus the baked goods are second to none. Stationed in a beach house from the 1920s, Java Man provides a great vibe, too. For a quick pick-me-up before hitting up the beach, head down to Java Man Coffee House. Like Guisados, this local joint is mere blocks from our ITH Surf Hostel.
Jus’ Poke
For the fish lovers out there, look no further than Jus’ Poke. This Hawaiin-inspired joint serves up some of the best poke around. With an emphasis on sourcing the freshest cuts of fish for their poke, Jus’ stands out as a must-hit. The restaurant features family recipes that have been passed down for generations. Plus, the prices are fair and they have different options for trying poke! Located in nearby Redondo Beach, this poke joint is one that you can’t pass up.
Al Hamra Kabob Grill
Another spot that is located in Redondo Beach but worth the trip is Al Hamra Kabob Grill. For a great gyro or some savory Shawerma, look no further than this local favorite. At Al Hamra Kabob Grill, only halal meat is used for all their dishes. We recommend trying the lamb shank or falafel wrap! With an emphasis on authenticity and flavor, this Mediterranean joint delivers healthy dishes at an affordable rate.
Tacos El Goloso
If you’re a taco connoisseur, you’ll love this spot. Tacos El Goloso serves up some of the best Birria around, and they’re also known for their burritos. This small Mexican joint is easy on the wallet and delivers fast, authentic food. For lesser appetites, try the street tacos! With so many taco places in town, Tacos El Goloso is one of our favorites. From the homemade chips to the sizzling quesadillas, there’s something for everyone on the menu.
