Staying in hostels is a great way to save money, meet people, and see different parts of the city. In this piece, we’ve outlined a directory of San Diego hostels for you to check out before you make your next visit!

First off, let’s start in Gaslamp.

Here we have Gaslamp Hostel in the historic Gaslamp District. This buzzing neighborhood is a hub for night-life, good food, and amazing architecture. This building dates back to 1887, and it is rich with history! For more information, give them a dial or stop by!

Next, we have HI San Diego Downtown Hostel. This hopping hostel is also located in Gaslamp, and is part of a chain of hostels that hosts travelers in states and cities all around the country. During your stay, you’ll have access to all the excitement and entertainment that Gaslamp has to offer!

Downtown San Diego

For a great central location, consider staying at Hostel on 3rd. This hostel is located in a more residential area, which means you are more likely to receive a quiet night’s rest. They have an array of options as it goes for rooms, and is located in close proximity to the Convention Center.

If you’re in town for a baseball game, look no further than Lucky D’s. This hostel has an excellent central location in downtown San Diego, just blocks from Petco Park. Also a great option for those late-night hangouts and exciting outings on the town, Lucky D’s offers you close proximity to the Gaslamp District. They offer an array of options for rooms, including private and mixed dorms.

Lastly, in downtown San Diego, we have yours truly: ITH Adventure Hostel. This gem is located in the Little Italy neighborhood, and boasts awesome common areas as well as a fun list of rotating events. From Taco Tuesday, to our Saturday BBQs, you’re sure to meet a mix of interesting, fun people. Also, this location is within walking distance of the Wednesday & Saturday Mercato Farmer’s Market, which is a treat!

Pacific Beach

If you’re in the mood for some surf and sun, head on over to Pacific Beach. Here, you’ll find California Dreams Hostel, which is nearby a host of different restaurants and outdoor activities. Consider doing a bike tour while you’re there, or another great group activity.

Ocean Beach

For another beach vacation, consider staying over in Ocean Beach. One of our favorites is Samesun Ocean Beach. This gem is located right on the popular Newport Avenue, which leaves you smack dab in the middle of the action. Pro tip: book on a Wednesday, so you can enjoy the awesome Farmers Market that happens every Wednesday evening on Newport Avenue. Come hungry!
