For those who want to avoid flying into LAX or San Diego, the Santa Barbara airport offers several flights to cities around the country. Getting from the Santa Barbara Airport to our ITH Beach Hostel is easy. Here’s how to do it.

Getting from Santa Barbara Airport to our ITH Beach Hostel

Take the Bus

For travelers looking to save money, the city bus is the best option. A single-ride ticket on any Santa Barbara MTD bus costs $1.75. Purchasing one of these tickets will grant you one ride on the bus. If you need to transfer, you will need to purchase an additional single-ride ticket. All city buses take cash fare, but you can also use a contactless credit card on certain lines. It is always best to carry cash, just in case! If you’re visiting Santa Barbara for an extended period of time, consider buying a 10-day pass. These can be purchased at various MTD locations, and a 10-day pass costs $11.50.

Since there is no direct route from the airport to our hostel, you will need to take the number 11 bus to the MTD Transit Center (located on Chapala & Carrillo). This ride should take roughly 50 minutes. The MTD Transit Center is located 1 mile from our hostel. From the MTD Transit Center, the quickest way to get to the hostel is to walk.

Of course, the quickest way to get to our hostel is by car. The Santa Barbara Airport has several rental car options available on-site. If you have rented a car from one of these companies, getting your car should be quick and seamless. Though having a car in Santa Barbara is not necessary, it certainly helps to get around and explore all that the city has to offer.

With Uber and Lyft, our hostel is easily accessible. Rides tend to range from $20-$40, depending on the time of day that you book. Since the airport is less than 10 miles from our hostel, your ride should take less than 20 minutes. Booking a rideshare can be beneficial if you’re bringing lots of bags, or are arriving late. While it is not the most cost-effective, choosing a rideshare is the most efficient way to reach our hostel from the airport.
