General Hostel FAQ's

Our unique accommodations create a community revolving around sharing space in order to learn more about the amazing people who enter our front doors. We hope every guest leaves our houses with a new outlook on cultures and world travel. In addition, you can enjoy our social activities while seeing our cities from a local’s perspective.

Yes! This is one of the great attributes of the International Travelers House.  We love to welcome independent travelers who are curious about other cultures and are looking to meet interesting people.  Our variety of social activities and communal feel is perfect for the social traveler looking to have a great time.

Our daytime activities are an amazing way to see the city fast and efficiently as if you were a local. They are offered to our guests on a first come first serve basis. Sign up for the activities when you check in at reception.

Beach Bungalow Surf Hostel FAQs

Yes, parking is available at the hostel for $12 per night.  There is also free street parking available on the street in front of the hostel as well as surrounding residential neighborhoods.  If you are parking on the streets, be sure to confirm there is no city street sweeping scheduled where your is car parked, otherwise you will get a ticket.

Yes, we offer free luggage storage for guests with current reservations.  Overnight luggage storage is available for $5 per night per bag.

If you would like to go to Tijuana or on a day trip to Baja, you must have the proper Visa and have a current passport. 

All guests must be at least 18 years old to stay at the Hostel

All guests must bring a current form of government ID and a valid credit card in their name for incidentals. Guests that wish to stay with us must reside outside of San Diego County and be traveling through San Diego.

San Diego has some of the best climate in the world! It is sunny approximately 330 days a year. Temperatures range from around 15 degrees Celsius (60 degrees Fahrenheit) in the winter to 24 degrees Celsius (75 degrees Fahrenheit) in the summer.

No. Fresh linens will already be made on your bed for you when you arrive!  Fresh towels are always available for you at reception.

DOWNTOWN Hostel FAQ's

No, we do not offer parking at this location.  Surrounding the hostel are both metered parking spots and free street parking spots. There is also a paid parking lot across the street from the hostel on Front Street and Cedar Street.  If you are parking on the streets, be sure to confirm there is no city street sweeping scheduled where your car is parked, otherwise you will get a ticket.

Mountain Hostel FAQ's

Yes, we offer one free parking spot with each room reservation.  During winter months, the street coming up to the Lodge can be very icy and you may need to park in the public parking lot inside the Village depending on your vehicle type.

To stay in a dorm room, you must be at least 18 years old. Guests with children younger than 18 years old are welcome but must stay in a private room or rent the entire dorm room.

All guests must bring a current form of government ID and a valid credit card in their name for incidentals. Guests that wish to stay with us must reside outside of the Big Bear area and be traveling through Big Bear.

Big Bear offers an amazing climate consisting of four seasons! Temperatures range from around -5 degrees Celsius (15 degrees Fahrenheit) in the winter to 24 degrees Celsius (75 degrees Fahrenheit) in the summer.

When traveling in the winter, be sure to brings tire chains in case of snow fall.
