To really set this year’s spring break apart, we put together the ultimate guide for mastering San Diego like a pro.

Spring Break Experiences You Can’t Miss Out On

No San Diego experience is complete without embarking on a few of the quintessential Southern Californian adventures. Here are our favorites:

San Diego Spring Break Surfing

This iconic pastime is a must for anyone seeking to taste the adrenaline of soaring on water. Surfing lessons are a great way to ensure beginners taste victory on the waves. Check out our beach guide for surfing beginners.

Sailing in San Diego

Take to navigating the seas at the helm of a sailboat. No matter if it’s a 14-foot or 40-foot boat, you’ll enjoy the breeze through your hair and sun on your face. For warmer days, a quick dip in the water can bring new meaning to the word refreshing. If you head out of the bay, make sure to be on the lookout for dolphins swimming by. Check out Seaforth Boat Rentals for various options on getting out on the water.

San Diego Beach

Beach Day

This includes, but is not limited to, lounging, tanning, book reading, and sport playing. With miles of pristine beaches, you can’t go wrong with any beach endeavor you choose.

Nightlife Guides To San Diego

Hostel Backpacker

You can’t have an epic getaway without getting a taste of the nightlife. After all, it is spring break. No matter your style, San Diego caters to all interests.

Pub Crawl

You’ve never seen a microbrew scene like San Diego. Sorry Portland, the beer Gods have placed you solidly at #2. Any bar worth its salt will have at least 30 beers on tap. Some range closer to 100. Needless to say, we take our beer very seriously. Find a discounted Brewery Tour on Groupon.

Fluxx Night ClubClubs

Not just a sleepy beach town, San Diego offers a vibrant nightlife. While quality clubs are scattered around the city, the real scene is downtown. For those looking for an upscale dancing club with a big city atmosphere, check out FLUXX. Another local favorite is Omnia. This multi-level club has an ultra-chic atmosphere and an A-list DJ line up. For the country music crowd, check out Moonshine Flats. This swanky country club hosts the largest dance floor in downtown.

San Diego Beach Bonfire

At ITH, we host a variety of nighttime activities. If the bar scene isn’t your style, or you just want a night off, we have you covered. From chill beach bonfires to jam sessions to epic Jenga battles, we make every evening memorable.

Spring Break Packing For San Diego

Spring Break in San Diego

San Diego is eclectic, so we encourage you to pack your most outlandish attire. But for the purpose of function over form, here are a few basics:

Beach Essentials

Sunscreen, swimming suit, hat, flip flops, beach towel, Frisbee, football, volleyball and a good book. That should cover almost every beach time activity.

The temperature gauge may be a steady 70, but it will be a few more months before the water temps catch up. If you don’t have a wetsuit, there are many options to rent.

Light Jacket & Jeans

In addition to your summer or club attire, prepare for a slight cooling off in the evening.

Your Sense of Adventure

This should go without saying, but it never hurts to double check.

What to Eat in San Diego

Fish Tacos

San Diego is home to diverse foods from around the world but the local favorite is our tacos. Some of our favorite taco joints are Bluewater Seafood, Oscars Mexican Food and Lucha Libre.
