Your Key to a Big Bear Mountain Labor Day Getaway

Ali Sullivan

That summer heat can be unbearable! Especially as it creeps up to triple digits, nothing is less enjoyable than sitting in your living room sweating.

If you’re tired of sweltering temperatures in the desert, it’s time for a mountain getaway. Escape the heat and experience the mountains! After one dip in the cool lake or an early morning hike, memories of afternoons feeling like you’re in a sauna will slip away.

It’s nothing but refreshing up here.

Perfect timing too! Labor Day is just around the corner. This iconic three-day weekend is your perfect excuse to pack up and head to a higher elevation.

On top of that, Big Bear Mountain goes all out to celebrate the holiday. So for your upcoming Big Bear Mountain excursion, here are some of our favorite recommendations.

Activities on Big Bear Mountain

Big Bear

During the summer, the lake is our favorite place to be! The whole village revolves around the water. It’s probably because the fresh mountain water always stays cool. Especially for those last weeks of summer, the water temperature is absolutely perfect.

We love the water sports up here so much we dedicated an entire article to it!

During September, our three favorite activities are:

  • Boating
  • Fishing
  • Kayaking

Of course there are other great things you can do up here if you’re not keen on the water scene. There’s mountain biking, zip lining, golfing, hiking and more. Check out the full fall lineup of activities here.
